Non-governmental Non-profit Organization “Observatory of Democracy” was founded in March 2016 by a group of political analysts in Kharkiv.
In February 2017, the NGO “Observatory of Democracy” received grant support from the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), funded by the Government of Canada.
Aim of the grant’s project – establishment in the Eastern region of Ukraine a non-governmental center for analysis, monitoring and communications capable of uniting the sector of civil initiatives and the sphere of qualified political experts for strengthening the activities of the civil initiatives sector to democratize regional and national policies.
The main activity of the Center for political analysis “Observatory of Democracy” covers:
- systematic and permanent work in the field of analytical and monitoring policy studies of key problems in the reforms’ implementation at the national, regional and local levels of governing,
- forming a broad public and expert discussion on key issues of national and regional policy,
- development of conceptual, scientifically calculated, professional recommendations on topical national and regional problems and alternative political solutions,
- promotion of European institutions, practices and values into the political and public spheres of Ukraine.
The analytical center extends the geography of its practical activities to Kharkiv and the entire Kharkiv region, as well as to all adjacent regions (Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Lugansk, Donetsk).
The target audience covered by the activities of the “Observatory of Democracy” includes political experts, public and party activists, students and professors of higher educational institutions, parliamentary deputies and deputies of local councils, representatives of governmental bodies and local self-government.
One of the main tasks of the “Observatory of Democracy” is to involve the leading political scientists and political analysts of the region in analytical center’s activities, to establish close cooperation with public organizations and other stakeholders in various areas of reforms in Ukraine.
